We invited both boys, nick age 10 and sequoia age 6, to stay up all the way to midnight and celebrate new years with us. powered by hot chocolate and dark chocolate, they managed to stay awake until the turn of the year---barely. Rachel and nick retired to bed at 11:30pm, but counted down the final seconds from under the covers. copyright © 2013 sean dreilinger
