we got out of the car to pick blackberries, but before i could even unpack the ziploc bags out of the trunk, sequoia came running back to the car with something in his hand - not blackberries - but a green leaf, which he showed to me and asked excitedly “this mint?” turns out the little meadow had at least two kinds of mint growing in it, and he found some and brought back a sample to inquire if it was edible.
