shaded back deck @6pm: 41.3 degrees Celsius = 106.34 degrees Fahrenheit

towards the end of what was probably our hottest day ever in lake oswego oregon (since 2005, apparently we missed a hotter moment last summer), i picked up sequoia from daycare and bought a 9v battery for our multimeter, which has thermometer. our house is mostly shaded by trees, you can't even see it on satellite photos of our street.

the temperature outside on our back deck wins the max temperature award at 106 degrees fahrenheit. the unfinished garage was a mere 95 degrees, and most of the house was a bearable 81 degrees fahhrenheit with the air conditioning set to a target temperature of 75. the office where i usually work was up towards 87 degrees, so i'm working off of a laptop in other rooms.

i know other locales regularly endure hotter weather than this, our home isn't really set up for temperatures at either extreme.

Neeta Lind: Crazy weather up there lately.

Now juxtapose these shots with when you were snowed in Dec. 08.

Crazy.
