there are at least three ways to spell the name. In addition to “Sequoia,” “Sequoya” and “Sequoyah” are also used to name the man who invented the Cherokee alphabet. Rachel looked at me for a second to see if i had any second thoughts on spelling it like the big tree. Or she could have been looking for feedback on Rain vs Rein vs Reign, we'll never know.

Sequoia weighed seven pounds fourteen ounces, was nineteen and a half inches tall, sporting dark hair and an intense pair of lungs at birth.
