cnet search.com @ linuxworld [18 photos] this was the blade-server enlightenment event; after seeing a few booths of blade backplanes we realized that we could easily re-implement our 30+ machine linux-based server farm in a handful of blade chassis.
i started using unix in 1988 during my visual art 41 class at ucsd (about the same time i started using DOS-based PCs too). i first tried linux during the 1992-1993 winter vacation; daniel and i figured out how to SLIP onto the ucsd network and i was hooked for good.
by 1994 i had completely switched to linux for my primary desktop and server operating system.
despite this longtime linux experience, i had never attended a linux conference or trade show - so it was pretty exciting to see such a huge turnout of vendors and attendees for a linux event.
