I think this is in the Mercato del Porcellino, which during shop hours is covered by a 16th-century loggia, originally a covered luxury-goods market, with statues & a famed fountain.
I cannot remember the significance of this spot. Pretty likely people were killed here. JK. Need to check with Mark, who is explaining it above.
