USCF Master's Track Championship 2008 [65 photos] Held this year 40 minutes from our home in San Jose at Hellyer Park Velodrome. Jeff decided at the last minute to race since it was so close. He has only been to the track 2 times this year. He had low expectations for himself because he needs a hip replacement but he ended up riding supremely well. Muscle memory I say. The crowd really came alive while he was riding because his first lap was excellent. He looked great and everyone said so. He finished with a time of 2:29 to place third. We were very pleased. He's still got something.

On our drive home he said, “ my hip really hurts right now…”
