Maybe Tomorrow

crawling around this open space with you--
at last i'm never going to be alone.
some day you know i'm going to forgive you,
for leaving me, for leaving home

i know the world is turning but i can't see a thing.
last night one little burning star fell and lit up the sky--
it cut across the black like fiery sparks on a string.
tell me when the stars are sad is this how they cry?
without the slightest sound--
let their light fall down.
drop hope and love once found...
from heaven to the ground.

maybe tomorrow,
i'll send up a wish as the sky falls down--
that all the love and light i have borrowed...
be shared with you share it all around

i believe i'll live another day but can't prove it's true.
i believe this wish is helping and i hope it helps you
to reach up over mountains and be strong without me.
to reach across the oceans to live long and live free,
whatever flag is flown
where you make your home,
where you're all alone...
