harvest moon

i remember the merry go round
in the Admiral's Park
Harvest Moon--your eyes and hair glow
out of the dark

it's been two long years since you told me goodbye
it's been too many lone tears that i have kept or cried

land of painted faces
of coincidence and fate
you come out of the cold of this foreign place
my weary eyes relate

i see you see farther ahead of you now
looking out for yourself somehow

i wish some things could stay the same forever
but a lady may change her heart
here my family comes together
i hear yours...is fallen apart

the light still gleams from inside your eyes
and your earnest words both inspire and surprise

you seem a little worn
as though you've spent some time
in some of the hells
you were always talking about (at least you got out)

i'm not saying that you've grown old or wise
but it seems by experience you have realized

people still kiss in the sand
i see them tonight holding hand in hand
someday, again
you'll walk with me

it will be as though we were never apart
your hand will fill my hand just like this hope that fills my heart
