cat and mouse

our cats are patient, but pretty well blind. they chased this mouse behind a bookshelf, then kept a vigil at both ends of the bookshelf for about 18 hours until the mouse made a run for it. they chased the mouse into the dining room, where the mouse survived by hiding under each of our cats in turn. our cats seem to have an amazing sense of smell but pretty bad eyesight. in this photo, the mouse is hiding between the cat food and cat water dish. i caught the mouse and put it out of its misery shortly after this photo.
