nick woke up before anyone else in the house and started building this on his own around 7am. we made him stop for school at about 8:20am; and he got a little more time to work on it after daycare and before the election party from 6pm-7pm or so. here is is rushing into the dining room after 10pm, intending to finish the model in the same day he started it. we vetoed that and sent him to bed, but i'm pretty sure he'll finish it in the morning. this is the first time he's done a big project like this unassisted. the lego instructions are pictographic, and he has to follow a bunch of numbered steps in the right order to assemble it. this model has 454 pieces, which is right up there among the most complex lego kits we've ever had in our house.
