my liquid-cooled computer started sizzling last month, it sounded like i was cooking a stir-fry inside the case. turns out a $30 thermaltake water-cooled vga heatsink had cracked, melted, or otherwise ruptured and spilled coolant all over $6,000 worth of high-end computing hardware. major bummer. took a long time to clean everything out and restart it with noisy fan-cooled hardware. i've ordered some enormous passive heatsinks to try and get back to silent computing without the water pump.

try the ion coolers
sean dreilinger: actually, i went to passive cooling. i gutted the water cooling system and replaced that with a Thermalright HR-03 VGA Cooler on the nvidia 7000 series video card and a Thermalright Ultra-120 on the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Processor. no fans on either heatsink!
