i get way too much junk e-mail. my primary e-mail addresses have been in-use since 1997 (work) and 1998 (personal). each message passes through a round of spam filtering on the receiving server (where especially evil senders can be rejected before any data is accepted), and spamassassin on the receiving server, and then a much stricter round of spamassassin on the home machine. when the messages are opened for reading in thunderbird on linux, thunderbird makes a third pass of junk filtering -- and here we see that of the past ~1 million messages (961,880) received (1 million messages that passed through two layers of spam filtering as ham), 27% is still flagged as spam. ouch. the tool that generates this performance summary of thunderbird junk mail statistics is Mnenhy.

sdbrown: I gave up the fight and just use Google Mail to handle everything for annular.org. It's just so much easier.
